Participants of the
Executive MBA Program benefit from the diverse industry and
educational backgrounds represented in the class. Within the study
teams, and more broadly within the entire class, students become
valuable resources to one another. A result is the development of a
strong network among alumni and current participants.
Study Teams
The
Executive MBA Program is designed to build an intensive collaborative
educational process within study teams and among members of the
class. Study teams are an integral part of the program from both an
academic perspective and also as a means for mutual support. Teams of
four or five individuals are formed at the beginning of the Program by
the Executive MBA Program leadership. In configuring the teams,
consideration is given to providing diversity of background and
breadth of expertise so that total group effectiveness is maximized. Geographical proximity is also a factor, allowing study teams to meet
conveniently each week outside of class.
Approximately one-third of course work is performed and graded as team
projects, with the balance as individual work. The study team also
serves an important function beyond teamwork – even individual work is
discussed in the study team setting where appropriate. Indeed, an
important tenet of Executive MBA education is that those who are
expert in a particular subject assist in educating their fellow team
members and classmates through advising and leading discussions.
Networking
The
Executive MBA Alumni Association provides a forum for sharing
information of professional, business and general interest among its
members. The hundreds of alumni in this active network interact
socially and do business with one another on a regular basis. These
activities enhance the camaraderie developed among the students in the
program.
